DescriptionMASESCHA COUNTRY ESTATE Masescha means Hidden: the ‘Hidden’ valley The experience of Masescha is peace, quiet and tranquillity. Here, guests are assured of a relaxing and restful stay, they sleep well and enjoy the delightful environment in clean, well-equipped facilities. We are situated 15 minutes from Knysna and 10 minutes from Plettenberg Bay in the Riviera of Southern Africa. Our Country Estate is in the heart of the Garden Route within close proximity to all the many tourist attractions in this world-renowned area. Set on 12 hectares of land, a meander around the garden can lead you over the Boskop River winding through the Estate and into the cool indigenous forest revealing abundant bird life, ferns, fynbos and flora. The cottages are nestled into well-stocked, established rolling garden and lawn with some lovely specimen trees. Our large swimming pool is enjoyable for either a cooling dip on hot days or for an energetic few lengths before breakfast. For Birdwatchers there is such a huge variety of bird life which would keep any enthusiast content (see separate Birdwatching page) - so don’t forget your binoculars. There are seven picturesque water dams, three of which are stocked with Tilapia for the fishing enthusiast so you might like to try your luck and bring your fishing rod (also available for hire). Baboons are often heard in the forest and we receive regular visits from the Vervet Monkeys. Bushbuck and other deer have also been spotted as occasional visitors through the garden. The majestic forest backdrop is a scenic delight suitable for families or couples looking for a restful and rejuvenating break. A true haven of tranquillity. Accommodation Above by way of a short steep staircase is a bedroom with two single beds leading onto a veranda giving fantastic views over the gardens, dams and forest. The open sunny veranda lends itself to late morning breakfasts and sundowners. Birdsong House – For Sole Use (Sleeps up to 10) The original 120 year old farmhouse with stinkwood ceilings. On the ground floor is the lounge/dining area (with DSTV and DVD), a cosy fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen with large 5-burner gas oven and washing machine. There is a master bedroom with queen sized bed and en-suite with bath, shower and toilet. Also downstairs is another double bedroom and single bedroom with adjacent toilet and shower room. A short steep staircase upstairs offers 5 single beds within 2 bedrooms and a toilet/shower room in between. Outside is a large partially covered braai area and brick paved terrace with patio furniture overlooking the valley and forest. Sunbird Cottage (Sleeps up to 4) Romantically furnished in a modern style, this brick cottage is nestled in its own private garden with brick built braai. The lounge/dining area has a double sleeper couch, DSTV with DVD and adjacent fully fitted kitchen with gas oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, iron and ironing board. The separate bedroom has a queen sized double bed with en-suite shower room/toilet. Room heaters are fitted It is built on level ground and is easily accessible. Sunbird overlooks the swimming pool and down into the valley with its lawns and lush vegetation. Self Catering Rooms Gazania This spacious open plan room has a Mexican pine queen sized double bed with en-suite shower room/toilet. Facilities include DSTV, countertop oven with integrated hotplate, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and room heater. Fully equipped with all crockery, cutlery, glasses, pots, linen, towels and toiletries. Outside it has a wooden deck/patio sitting area with braai. Lavender A smaller budget room with 2 single beds and en-suite shower room/toilet. Facilities include microwave, countertop oven with separate hotplate, fridge, kettle, toaster and room heater. Fully equipped with all crockery, cutlery, glasses, pots, linen, towels and toiletries. Outside it has a wooden deck/patio with additional side patio sitting area and braai. Bed and Breakfast Rooms Valley View A new modern and comfortable room with queen sized double bed and en-suite shower room/toilet, room heater, coffee and tea making facilities. Linen, towels and toiletries provided. It has its own private entrance and terrace sitting area overlooking the dams, gardens and majestic forest.

DirectionsFrom Plettenberg Bay take the N2 towards Knysna. After 8kms pass the Knysna Elephant Park on the right and the Wolf Sanctuary on the left and after a further 500m is a Masescha sign to turn right. Follow the road until you reach some white painted pillars and we are the middle entrance. From Knysna take the N2 towards Plettenberg Bay and after 15kms pass the Garden of Eden on the left, the Sasol filling station on the right then further down on the left you will see some very large polytunnels and our sign to turn left is at the end of these tunnels.
