Experience the unique transformation from busy city life to the place of "many waters", as the Tsitsikamma is so aptly named by the Khoisan.

The Tsitsikamma, one of the world’s most beautiful coastlines, harbours a delicately balanced marine ecosystem. Misty Mountain Reserve nestles within the heart of this area, bordering the famous Tsitsikamma National Park, the largest marine reserve in South Africa. Misty Mountain Reserve, easily reached in a one and a half hour drive from Port Elizabeth, is situated 230m above sea level on the edge of a dramatic escarpment. Misty boasts uninterrupted, breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, Tsitsikamma Mountains and indigenous forest.

Our elegantly equipped wooden chalets offer a range of accommodation to meet all requirements: choose from Luxury, Superior and Family, each with their own unique style and including such amenities as spa baths, TV (DStv), fire place and a welcoming glass of sherry. Chalets are serviced daily.

The beauty of the area, with our chalets nestled on the edge of the indigenous forest overlooking magnificent sea views, has enhanced our reputation as a romantic honeymoon venue. Share a sundowner while watching the sunset and absorb the serene, rejuvenating atmosphere that Misty Mountain Reserve has to offer.

Choose whether to enjoy three-course country dinners and English breakfasts in our dining room, for resident guests, served by our enthusiastic and friendly local staff or self cater (braai packs and picnic baskets are available on request). Other amenities for guests include a swimming pool, lounge and bar.

Catch a glimpse of majestic birds such as the Fish Eagle, Knysna Turaco (Lourie) or Narina Trogon, or spot whales, dolphins and sea otters while enjoying scenic walks or mountain bike rides, along well marked routes ranging from 6 to 60km, through the forest. Bring your own bass or fly rods and fish for Black Bass and Kurper in our two dams.

Misty Mountain Reserve is the second stopover of the celebrated three-night Dolphin Trail. Thanks to its temperate climate, the region is a hiker's paradise. Absorb what nature has to offer while experiencing a guided tour of this pristine area. Take in the natural sounds and smells of the forest while having a well-deserved picnic under the trees and plant-life that surround you, while your luggage awaits you at your next destination.

"Tranquillity with a Kick" - if it's adrenaline you're seeking, there are numerous activities within close proximity, ranging from river tubing, Tree Top Canopy Tours, Monkey Land and the Birds of Eden, bungy jumping (the highest in the world), Flying Fox Slide (216m), scuba diving, snorkelling trails and so much more. We can arrange a shuttle service and pre-book adventures in the area for your convenience (just arrive and enjoy!). We look forward to welcoming you to an unforgettable Misty Mountain experience.
